Welcome to the Power Quality international, inc. worldwide website. PQI has been providing electrical power system solutions, to facility owners or their management and engineering professionals, for over thirty-five years. With the exception of the Antarctica, we have completed major international assignments on every continent. Our engineers have designed, commissioned and maintained some of the largest electro-chemical plants in the world. The mitigation of power system harmonics, in these non-linear power conversion systems, is an essential design requirement. The introduction of low voltage electronic loads, in the early 1980s, has had a profound effect on ‘power quality’ and system efficiency. Non-linear, load-generated harmonic currents have produced unacceptable levels of voltage distortion and ‘penalty losses’. With our engineering and manufacturing ‘know how’, PQI was the first company to develop and apply electromagnetic filters that shunt all zero-sequence harmonic currents, the most significant harmonics in low voltage sub-systems that supply single-phase electronic loads. Building on this technology, we were also first to develop and apply harmonic mitigating transformers that shunt all zero-sequence harmonic currents, via their ultra-low zero-sequence impedance secondary windings, and cancel positive- and negative-sequence harmonic currents. PQI is presently the only manufacture with a complete line of harmonic mitigating medium and low voltage class transformers and zero-sequence harmonic filters. In addition, the company has acquired the exclusive rights to apply e-RatedÒ technology to its entire HarMitigatorÔ product line.
